Wine Tourism Walk and Immersion in Local Vineyards

The Loire Valley is an exceptional wine-growing region, offering a diversity of wines that appeal to connoisseurs and amateurs alike. Around Candes-Saint-Martin, the area is particularly famous for its Saumur appellation wines, as well as other crus like those from Bourgueil or Chinon.

Many wineries located in the immediate vicinity of Candes-Saint-Martin, especially those around Saumur and Montsoreau, offer guided tours. These visits are an opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of wine production, understand the work of winemakers, and taste the different cuvées produced on-site.

Boat Ride on the Loire

As a confluence point between the Loire and Vienne rivers, the village of Candes-Saint-Martin naturally developed as a river port. At its peak in the 19th century, Touraine wines, dried pears, as well as building stones, Guérande salt, and fish from Brittany transited here.

With the Amarante, their traditional boat, the Delaporte brothers perpetuate this heritage in their own way by offering superb rides from the neighboring village of Montsoreau. A short 45-minute trip, a 1.5-hour sunset escapade, or a cruise with dining in the middle of the Loire (3 hours): whatever you choose, it will remain a wonderful memory!

Visit Candes-Saint-Martin

A short 3.5-kilometer walk takes you through the prettiest streets of our beautiful village, where the collegiate church and its Plantagenet Gothic architecture dominate the tuffeau stone houses with slate roofs. The terrace of the Auberge de la Route d’Or inevitably invites a pause, before visiting one of the artisans: the Jardin des Envies and its various creators, the Petite Forge Candaise, Gilles Piot, Intérieur Lumière, Gabrielle Plasse (contemporary jewelry), the ATUTAK gallery, specialist in Inuit art, or Guillaume Aupetitallot, our antique dealer.
